The Art of Winning by Matshona Dhliwayo is an inspirational read. Dhliwayo writes 100 rules and 2 manifestos to help navigate through life. These are very short, simple rules that everyone can be inspired and/or motivated by.
There were two things about the book that made it an enjoyable read for me. The first was how the book was very "to the point." There were no extra stories, not anecdotes to try and make you connect. I felt it was easier to connect the rules to my life when I thought about them more. Each rule requires you to stop and think about how it may be accurate for you. That was the second thing that I enjoyed. There was a continuation to each rule. Dhliwayo wrote to show that each rule is a journey. There is always a way to continue moving forward. That made it relevant to my life and the decisions I make.
Rule 23 is my favorite. It speaks of dreams, goals, failures, and successes in a way that exemplifies my very neurotic heart. "Goals give you a mission" is my favorite line (33). I need goals in my life, to show what I am fighting towards. Without those I feel lost. When I succeeded, I do feel satisfaction. There are other rules that I connected with, but none with such passion.
Overall I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of how much someone can get out of it. This is a book that you will make copies of and post everywhere in your life to read everyday.
