A book about a heist. That was one of the prompts for my yearly book list. And I certainly got a book about a heist. Six of Crows is the story of six individuals looking for a chance to become impossibly rich and capture their dreams. But they first must accomplish an impossible task that has never been done before.
Kaz Brekker is an amazing genius who can come up with what seem like unbelievable scenarios of escape. Many of the scenes I never saw coming (which says much about the genius of the author) that I was enthralled from beginning to end. I loved the ending of the story the most, and (no spoilers) cannot wait to read the next one, Crooked Kingdom.
Besides Kaz, Inej and Nina are my favorite characters. I love Inej for how silent and strong she is. Having survived the Menagerie and the Dregs. I wish I could move like the Wraith, even just a little. Nina is so feisty and (I think) a little more relatable for me because she is so simply to me. Again the ending has me worried but I can not wait to see what happens with all 3 of them next.
I cannot put into words how amazing this story was. It doesn't take a while to wrap your head around the different scenarios because its like reading Mission Impossible, instead of watching it. But the plots are eerily similar with some magical differences. (I'm pretty sure MI didn't have Grisha).
5 out of 5 stars. Go get the book, or pull it out of your TBR pile right now, and read it right away. And don't ever bet against Kaz Brekker.
