The Magician's Diary by C.J. Archer

I'm falling so far behind this year because it has been a whirlwind. My husband lost his job, made a new one, then he had to go overseas, then I fell ill. I just need a little help focusing. Hopefully now that things are back on track, we can get it done.

So this is The Magician's Diary, and again I have to say how much I truly enjoy this series. Finally, we the reader, and India, meet the elusive Chronos and he is not what we thought. Instead of fixing Matthew's watch, he informs them they need to find a magician doctor's diary. The catch? He was murdered decades ago and his diary vanished. It's still a race against time to fix the watch, but with new, old, and previously unknown enemies coming out of the wood work, however will Steele and Glass get things accomplished?

The only downside is still this plot line between Matthew and India. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I really need them both to get on the same page instead of fighting each other and themselves. If it's not their feelings, then it's their investigative skills. Plus I still need India to grasp that same level of confidence she had in the first novel. It seems like she is struggling to rise back up, but it's still not quite there.

I had an inkling about the identity of Chronos, but the extent was elusive. And I have to agree with India's feelings regarding him. I don't know why he expected anything more or less. The other secondary relationships maintained (as I thought they might) but I was happy about the developing nature of Cyclops and Catherine. I wondered about Duke and his feelings for Willie. I hope the next book will reveal more about her and her motives.

Overall I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars, and end with "OMG! That ending, thought?!" If that's not incentive enough for your curiosities, then I don't know what is.
